Demonstration & Interactive

Join CBC broadcaster and food writer Khalil Akhtar for an afternoon of hands-on Punjabi home cooking, inspired by his new book How to Eat with Your Hands: Roti Shoti and Other Ways to Settle In.

You’ll learn the mechanics of making roti, from the dough to the rolling to the tava, and practise until it feels natural. Khalil will also cook a couple of everyday curries (moong dal and karahi chicken) as demonstrations, with plenty of chances to help, smell, and taste. We’ll finish with hands-on paratha, served with tea.

Each guest will go home with a copy of How to Eat with Your Hands – which Khalil will sign for you after class!

Disclaimer: We do our best to accommodate allergies where possible, but other guests will be handling these ingredients and cross-contamination may occur. Please contact us at [email protected] with any questions.
